AI IN EDUCATION & LEARNING ANALYTICS

AI in Education and Learning Analytics Laboratory

How can we determine whether AI tools in education actually help learning?

Learning and technology

About the laboratory

Study the educational uses of AI tools and learning data, focusing on their effects on teachers' judgement, learner autonomy and instructional decisions. Task-based studies, tool comparisons and data analysis evaluate the practical roles of generative AI, learning analytics and human–AI collaboration, clarifying conditions of use, errors and limitations.

Core research question

How can we determine whether AI tools in education actually help learning?

Main research directions

Generative AI and teaching support

Compare AI uses in lesson preparation, practice, explanation and feedback, and study teachers' verification and intervention.

Learning analytics and interpretation of evidence

Study process data, learning pathways, participation indicators and their interpretive limits, distinguishing platform activity from actual learning.

Human–AI collaboration and learner autonomy

Observe how learners use tools and analyse task design, critical judgement and over-reliance.

Education data and responsible AI

Consider data authorisation, privacy, bias, transparency and the appropriate use of learning analytics results.

Research and exchange

Exchange experience, relevant resources or research ideas relating to specific teaching and education contexts. Collaboration discussions specify participants, data sources, methodological choices and practical conditions, with attention to the needs of people from different backgrounds.

The Alliance provides one exchange gateway. Choose a laboratory of interest and send your ideas to the collaboration email address.
